The emulation signal is determined by entering the desired IDN from the

list parameter P-0-0900 in parameter P-0-0901, Encoder emulation

signal selection.

Note: The resolution of the emulated signal is determined for both

kinds of emulation (SSI and IGS) in parameter P-0-0903,

Encoder emulation resolution.

Incremental Encoder Emulation

The incremental encoder emulation provides a square-wave signal in TTL

level with variable frequency. The position difference of the selected

signal in the last position loop cycle (Basic: TA = 500µs, Advanced:

TA = 250µs) is calculated. The number of lines to be output and therefore

the periodic time of the square-wave signal for the next output interval is

calculated depending on the input in parameter P-0-0903, Encoder

emulation resolution.

Incremental Encoder Signals in TTL Format

By outputting two signals offset by 90 degrees (track A and track B) the

resolution is increased by the factor 4 when the two tracks are evaluated

in differential form. One line is then corresponding to 4 increments.

In addition, the incremental encoder outputs a third signal, the zero pulse.

The zero pulse has a fixed reference to the emulated signal (e.g. of the

encoder shaft, if an encoder signal is emulated) and can, in case position

data reference is existing (axis homed), also be emulated with reference

to the machine zero point.

Note: If bit 7 was set in P-0-0902, Encoder emulation control

parameter, it is only when the drive has been homed (cf.

S-0-0403) that the zero pulse is output in the distance of the

lines entered in P-0-0905, Encoder emulation zero pulse

distance. The generated zero pulses are then referring to the

actual machine zero point.
